Zero Alarm Chili

Whether you're dealing with small children, suffer from heartburn, or are just a mild-mannered Midwesterner like myself, sometimes you want a flavorful chili recipe without spicy peppers. This is the recipe we use on the farm, and it's always well received. If someone in your family does prefer it hotter, you can always add hot sauce to the bowl as you dish up.

Prep time: 30 minutes without children, 1.5 hours with children

Cooking time: 2-8 hours

Servings: 6-10 depending on how much hay you moved that day

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef, thawed

1 small white onion, chopped

1 bell pepper, chopped (Jim says the red and orange ones are better for heartburn than the green)

2+ cloves of garlic, minced

6-8 cans of beans- I use a mix of kidney beans, red beans, black beans, whatever. Unseasoned.

2 cans of Manwich Sauce. I use one bold and one chunky, but you do you.

2 cans of corn

Instructions

Drain beans and corn, place in bottom of 6 quart Crockpot. Brown and crumble beef, adding onion, garlic, and bell pepper and cooking until slightly soft. Drain if desired to remove excess fat.
